Frequently asked questions
What is the first step and what happens next?
Firstly, read the information on this website; it has been written and designed to give you an honest and genuine feel for the type of psychologist I am and what I can offer. If you would like to get in touch, even if it’s just to ask me some questions, fill in the contact form and I will endeavour to get back to you within 48 hours. You can choose to either book an initial appointment with me or we can set up a free 15 minute consultation call over the phone.
This call can give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and to get to know me a little before starting therapy, should you decide to go ahead with it after this call. I can offer both face-to-face or remote therapy sessions.
How long and how often are appointments?
Each appointment lasts 50 minutes. Depending on the nature of your difficulties and/or your current life circumstances, appointments tend to take place either weekly or fortnightly.
How long will I need therapy sessions for?
It is not possible to predict the exact length of therapy you will need, especially before we meet. We will use the first one to two sessions as ‘assessment sessions’. This means that I will spend some time getting to know why you have come for therapy, what difficulties you are experiencing, what you want to gain from attending therapy and give you information about appropriate therapy approaches. This will then enable us to develop a shared understanding of your difficulties and formulate a plan together that will include an estimate of how many sessions you may need. Of course, you can choose to end therapy at any point (with at least 24 hours notice before an appointment) or alternatively choose to continue/add on further sessions.
How soon can I get an appointment/What is your availability?
This is dependent on my availability and yours. I may have a space to start immediately but it may not be at a time that is convenient for you. We can discuss current availability as part of the free consultation call. I will always endeavour to offer you a convenient appointment as soon as I am able.
I currently offer therapy face-to-face and online appointments on Wednesdays between the hours of 10am and 6pm. I offer online appointments only on Thursdays between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
How much does it cost?
My fee for self-funding appointments is £95. Payment can be made either by bank transfer before the appointment or in cash. Further details regarding late cancellations and non-attendance can be found in my Terms and Conditions, which will be forwarded to you before you book an appointment with me.
Fees for those being referred via private health care insurance companies and other third parties varies due to individual contracts with each organisation. Companies I am currently registered with are:
BUPA, AXA, Aviva, Vitality Health, Cigna, WPA and Optima.
